VI Form & CSMS celebrate at glitzy Winter Ball

After being postponed for two years due to the coronavirus pandemic. The VI Form Academy and Cornwall School of Maths and Science (CSMS) students were finally able to celebrate together with some red carpet treatment at their Winter Ball last week.

The glitzy event was held at Tregenna Castle, St Ives, on Thursday 25th November. With students taking the opportunity to don their most glamorous dresses and sharpest suits. Around 130 students were in attendance, including those from last year’s Year 11 cohort. Who missed out on a Winter Ball of their own due to covid-19 cancellations.

Ollie Kirkbride, Assistant Principal and Director of VI Form, said, “An incredible evening was had by all and as always, our students were a credit to our academy. It’s an understatement to say that it’s been a demanding 18 months for our students, so to finally see them celebrating together and having fun at their Winter Ball is a truly wonderful feeling.”

Students and staff enjoyed a three-course meal before filling the dance floor for the evening.

Josh R said, “This is the most fun I’ve had in a long time and what a way to end the term!”

Shakira J said, “It was a great event and such a relief to be able to spend time with friends after the difficult years we have all gone through.”

Beth W added, “It was fantastic! Lots of fun dancing with friends!”

John Ross, Head of VI Form, said, “We’re so proud of our students who have shown such dedication, resilience and outstanding positivity over the past couple of years. This Winter Ball has been an extra special occasion and it was a pleasure to share in students’ well-deserved celebrations!”
