Dear Parents, Carers and Students,
The VI Form hope that you and your families are safe and healthy and coping with life in lockdown. It has been lovely to hear about some of the communication between students and their tutors on Google Classroom following the school closure.
Following further guidance from the government we would like to provide an update.
The guidance for A Level and GCSE resit examination entries remains the same as previously stated and you can view this information using the following link https://theviformacademy.co.uk/summer-exams-covid-19/. This is applicable to AS examinations, Core Maths and the Extended Project Qualification.
Applied General and all other Level 3 Courses
Newly shared exam board guidance states that teachers will be making final grade predictions based on all the evidence currently available. This includes any examined and non-examined units plus other factors in line with the guidance for A Level grade predictions. Therefore, you no longer need to continue with the completion of coursework for these courses.
Year 13 Results Day is on Thursday 13th August. Students will be able to collect their results from the VI Form between 8:30am and 10:30am. Students and parents will have an opportunity to discuss the results and get support with any UCAS applications from a member of the VI Form team. GCSE English and Maths resit exam results will be available for collection on Thursday 20th August. Students who wish to have their results collected by someone else must provide a signed letter giving consent for a named person to do so. The named person must bring identification and a copy of the letter with them on Results Day.
The grades awarded to students will have equal validity to the grades awarded in other years and should be treated in this way by universities, colleges and employers. There is no reason for the usual admissions cycle to be disrupted. Universities in the UK have said that they will be flexible and do all they can to support students and ensure they can progress to university. The majority of students will have their places confirmed via TRACK on results day but not all. If students require support on Results Day then the VI Form Team will be available and ready to help you.
The Government has asked universities and colleges across the UK to stop making unconditional offers or amending existing offers until 4th May. Please do not feel pressured to accept these offers over others you might be better suited to. After this date you may see changes to your offers and can contact us at the VI Form if you have any questions.
Our advice to students who have received an unconditional offer is always to consider whether this is the right provider and course for you before you make any decision. To give you time to make your decisions UCAS has extended their offer deadlines to UCAS Undergraduate applicants. If you’re affected by this extension, they’ll email you with a new decision deadline.
Once students have chosen their firm and insurance choices they should apply for accommodation and student finance.
We can support students in all aspects of their progression to university, please do not hesitate to contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Unfortunately, we have taken the decision to cancel the Summer Ball which was scheduled for July. We will be seeking to arrange an alternative when the current crisis is resolved. Any payments that have been made will be refunded.
If you need to speak to the pastoral care team, please do not hesitate to contact us on VIFormEnquiries@cambornescience.co.uk or John Ross on email@example.com. The VI Form direct telephone number is not being monitored for the duration of the COVID-19 crisis so please call the main switchboard on 01209 712280 if you need to talk to someone urgently.
